Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical and electromechanical solutions for autonomous and underwater systems, supporting military and commercial oceanographic products. This role owns mechanical designs across the full product lifecycle—from concept and analysis through prototyping, testing, integration, and manufacturing transition—while working closely with cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead system and subsystem mechanical design for underwater and marine applications
Design, analyze, prototype, and validate mechanical and electromechanical solutions
Select materials suitable for underwater environments with corrosion considerations
Perform structural analysis; FEA experience strongly preferred
Design electronic packaging for harsh marine environments
Create and maintain 3D CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks/AutoCAD
Support new product development and production manufacturing (DFMA)
Build and test prototypes and fixtures
Manage technical documentation, PDM data, and cost/labor estimates
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and business teams
Required Qualifications
5+ years mechanical engineering experience (or equivalent per degree)
Strong SolidWorks proficiency
Experience with underwater or marine product design
Knowledge of corrosion‑resistant materials and electronic packaging
Hands‑on prototyping and manufacturing support experience
DFMA and PDM/EPDM experience
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Work Environment
Fully onsite in Pocasset, MA
Mix of design, documentation, lab, and shop work
Collaborative, cross‑functional engineering environment

This is a Contract position based out of Pocasset, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.50 - $60.00/hr.
