Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking an experienced environmental compliance professional to serve as a Resource Team Leader for the environmental compliance monitoring team, providing leadership for environmental compliance monitoring services across infrastructure projects of variable size and complexity. This role combines people leadership, operational oversight, and technical compliance expertise, supporting field-based teams while coordinating staffing, workload, and delivery across regions and business lines.

The Resource Team Leader is responsible for mentoring and supporting environmental compliance staff in a collaborative team environment, while also serving as a key operational interface between project managers, sector resource team leaders, compliance leads, and clients. This is a critical role in supporting staff performance, utilization, safety, and professional development, while ensuring environmental compliance programs are delivered consistently and effectively in alignment with regulatory requirements and client expectations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals with responsibility for staff development, performance management, and engagement.

  • Leading by example, promote Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Safer Together culture, including implementation of HSSE policies and support of stop work authority.

  • Set, manage, and monitor performance and career development goals for direct reports, including safety, utilization, project delivery, and professional growth objectives.

  • Serve as the Resource Team Leader for environmental compliance monitoring services, with responsibility for staffing logistics, scheduling, and utilization across active projects.

  • Coordinate staffing needs with project managers, sector resource team leaders, and other compliance leads to ensure appropriate coverage and efficient use of resources across projects and regions.

  • Maintain awareness of trained environmental compliance resources and support cross team and cross region work sharing to meet project demands and utilization targets.

  • Address personnel, staffing, or project delivery issues as they arise and facilitate engagement with regional leadership and HR as appropriate.

  • Provide supervisory management, including recruiting support, onboarding, training coordination, and integration of new staff into compliance programs.

  • Meet regularly with other team leaders to review and address current and forecasted workload, utilization, hiring needs, and operational priorities for the overall group.

  • Contribute technical oversight and guidance related to environmental compliance requirements applicable to construction activities, including stormwater, wetlands, waterways, species protection, and other regulated resources.

  • Support coordination with permitting and compliance managers to ensure construction teams understand permit conditions, compliance obligations, and documentation requirements.

  • Assist with identifying and mitigating environmental compliance risks during construction in coordination with internal teams, contractors, and external consultants.

  • Support client facing environmental compliance programs, including staff augmentation and third party compliance monitoring efforts, as a trusted internal and external liaison.

  • Contribute to technical project work within your area of expertise, including project delivery support, compliance program development, and operational process improvement.

  • Assist leadership with forecasting and achievement of key financial targets, including reviewing and approving timecards and expense reports as assigned.

  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for growth and business development within the environmental compliance sector. Assist with proposal development and strategic pursuits.

  • Travel to project sites and other offices as required to support field teams, onboarding, and project delivery needs.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong people leadership and supervisory management capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary, field-based teams across multiple concurrent projects.

  • Strong practical knowledge of environmental regulations and permits applicable to construction activities.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams, clients, contractors, and regulators.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment with variable project demands.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet motor vehicle record requirements.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience supporting environmental permitting and/or construction phase environmental compliance on infrastructure projects.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Prior experience in staff leadership, program coordination, or operational management roles preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements and active construction environments.

Pay Range:

• Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas-$102,000.00 - $153,000.00 Annually
