Position Summary
The Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and filing federal, state, and local tax returns while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. This role supports tax planning initiatives, conducts research on tax issues, and assists with audits and financial reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and file corporate, partnership, individual, and/or trust tax returns.
Ensure compliance with IRS and state tax regulations.
Research complex tax issues and provide recommendations to management.
Prepare quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Reconcile tax accounts and maintain supporting documentation.
Assist with federal and state tax audits and respond to notices.
Calculate estimated tax payments and extensions.
Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess impact on the organization.
Collaborate with accounting and finance teams during month-end and year-end close.
Maintain accurate and organized tax records.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2--5+ years of tax experience/Indirect Tax.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
Knowledge of State and Local Tax (SALT), especially sales and use tax regulations
Experience with tax software (e.g., UltraTax, ProSeries, or CCH).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
