Job Responsibilities:
+ + Ensure that facility is following all regulatory food safety requirements including FSMA
Review and validation of the SQF System
Perform all quality operations including audits (internal and external), investigations, document reviews, sops, validation, verification
Supervise quality department and personnel including priorities, training, and mid-level decision making
Help management team investigate and solve product quality issues
investigate (root cause analysis) and resolve corrective actions in conjunction with CAPA/production investigations
Prepare monthly, quarterly etc. reports for management
Maintain and update quality procedures, trainings, and support programs
Conduct QC testing, when necessary, to ensure product specifications are met
Responsible for mid-level product disposition and release
Representation of SQF practitioner, PCQI and USDA on the shifts
Assures plant preparedness for customer and regulatory inspections.
Either lead or participate in necessary Tier or lean meetings and problem solving sessions
Coaching of QA techs and in conjunction with QA Manager, manage disciplinary and attendance procedures
Support and enforce current Good Manufacturing Practices, SSOP and all relevant company policies and food safety regulations
Qualifications and Additional Skills:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Bachelor’s Degree in a related scientific field preferred.
3+ years of leadership experience within a food manufacturing environment.
A working knowledge of USDA, FDA, SQF and OSHA requirements.
Experience with SQF or BRC
Knowledgeable about regulatory requirements including FSMA
Ability to interact with regulatory personnel, practical audit experience a plus.
Comprehensive knowledge of Food Safety (HACCP principals, CGMPs, SOPs and SSOPs, Pest Control, and Allergen Control)
Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Ability and aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting activities.
The ability to train others in the proper techniques operations related to Quality and Safety programs (Micro swabbing, analytical testing, internal auditing, titration and chemical cleaning etc)
Bilingual Spanish preferred.
- Must be willing to work in our refrigerated environment with a temperature of 37 degrees.
- This position may require some travel for training.
Individual will be subject to production and warehouse environment (Wet environment with temperatures ranging from 38 to 40 degrees)
Medium/ High noise levels from operating machines and cleaning equipment
Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to enforce Good Food Manufacturing (GMP’S) processes
Frequently required to use personal protective equipment when using any cleaning chemicals
Able to communicate information accurately to others
Able to detect and discern sounds accurately in order to exchange information
Able to hold stationary positions for extended periods of time
Able to move throughout workspace frequently
Able to observe details at close range, perceive colored images as well as effectively perceive computer generated images on a screen
Frequently operates computer and other office productivity machinery
Able to move up to 20lbs. occasionally
Able to work overtime and/or weekends if/when needed
