Robert Half Staff Accountant in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. In this role, you will handle comprehensive accounting tasks, from compiling financial statements to assisting clients with financial projections and performance improvements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various accounting systems and demonstrate exceptional organizational and analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

• Set up new clients on accounting systems using financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant documents, even when information is incomplete.

• Utilize and understand various software platforms, including Greentree, Sage Fixed Asset Software, QuickBooks, Peachtree, and Microsoft Office.

• Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements for clients, ensuring timely completion and reviewing results with them.

• Provide strategic support to clients, helping improve their business performance and documenting processes for reference.

• Engage in discussions with business owners regarding operational topics such as sales, gross profit, payroll, expenses, benchmarks, and inventory management.

• Train and mentor support staff, ensuring they understand the attributes of successful client management.

• Create, review, and finalize financial reports, reconciliations, and workpapers with accuracy.

• Identify growth opportunities within tax, payroll, and financial services, communicating these to the Accounting Manager.

• Monitor and track deliverables, providing regular updates to the Accounting Manager on their status.

• Assist with client filings, including income tax, personal property tax, and annual reports. Requirements • Proficiency in tax-related tasks, including corporate and sales tax.

• Strong experience with corporate tax returns and journal entries.

• Advanced knowledge of general ledger management and financial reconciliation.

• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, and Peachtree.

• Ability to compile and analyze financial statements with attention to detail.

• Effective communication skills to discuss financial and operational issues with clients.

• Experience mentoring and training staff to enhance team performance.

• Capability to manage workloads across multiple clients and deliver results on time.
