Actalent Controls Engineer in Pleasant Hill, California
Overview
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Protection & Control (P&C) Engineer to support Transmission & Distribution (T&D) substation projects across AC, HVDC, and FACTS systems. This engineer will collaborate with designers, peer engineers, and project leadership to define, design, and coordinate all technical aspects of HV/EHV substation protection and control.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive, customer‑focused approach. This role may also function as a Project Engineer for small to mid‑sized projects that are heavily focused on secondary engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and integration of protection and control systems for HV/EHV substations.
Coordinate all technical project aspects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, schedule, and cost requirements.
Oversee system integration and engineering optimization at the project level.
Prepare engineering documents including protection schemes, control diagrams, logic diagrams, and SCADA interfaces.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on relay settings, factory acceptance testing, and field commissioning support.
Serve as a technical point of contact for customer inquiries and project issues.
Provide engineering leadership for small to medium substation projects.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Pleasant Hill, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
