GENERAL SUMMARY:
Following successful completion of the dialysis program, the hemodialysis RN will be able to initiate, monitor, discontinue, tear down and clean equipment used for dialysis. The hemodialysis RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates treatment prescriptions. The hemodialysis RN recognizes emergent situations and appropriately intervenes. They collaborate with the multidisciplinary teams. AHA-BLS certification is required however, certification is not a qualifying factor to obtain the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in New York State.
Minimum one year as Registered Nurse required.
AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal.
Previous hemodialysis experience preferred.
Previous critical care experience preferred.
Requires excellent customer service skills.
Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to learn new skills.
Successful completion of the orientation program.
Completion of CVPH Cardiac Arrhythmia Recognition Class within one year.
Meets requirements of physical/pre-placement screening.
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
Requirements:
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of New York required.
Appropriate experience in specific clinical area. Varies by unit.
