Prototyping & Fabrication Shop Supervisor
Location: Plano, TX (Onsite)
Do you have a passion for leading breakthrough, disruptive automation projects for some of the most iconic brands in the restaurant industry? We’re seeking a hands-on, high-energy Prototyping & Fabrication Shop Supervisor to help scale innovation inside our industry‑leading Automation Labs.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Automation, this role is ideal for a working leader who thrives in fast‑paced, collaborative environments and enjoys being on the shop floor, building, guiding, and problem‑solving alongside their team.
Work Environment & Schedule
Daily in‑person role at our Plano, TX labs
Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week onsite
Optional overtime available (typically 5–10 hours/week)
No travel required
Role Type
- 6‑month contractor role. While not guaranteed, there is strong potential for conversion to full‑time employment, possibly prior to the 6‑month mark
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and lead a team of 4–8 employees and contractors, scaling innovative automation solutions
Team includes technicians, fabricators, and engineers
Coordinate all in‑house lab efforts related to:
Prototyping
Manufacturing
Field trials of automated kitchen equipment
Oversee day‑to‑day lab operations, including:
Equipment reconfiguration and maintenance
Execution of prototyping, manufacturing, and testing activities
Implementation of 5S and Lean processes
Actively develop and elevate the team, getting them to full performance and potential
Develop, document, and improve standards and processes to deliver automation projects efficiently and consistently
Drive accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across lab operations
Requirements
Hands‑on, self‑motivated Supervisor / Team Lead with strong job‑shop or manufacturing operations experience
Ideally 5+ years of experience in automation, machine-building, fabrication, machine maintenance
Proven experience leading daily operations of a team as a Supervisor, Manager, or Team Lead
Strong machine shop background is an excellent fit
Candidates from hands‑on manufacturing production or maintenance leadership roles will also be considered
Demonstrated skills in fabrication, assembly, and/or equipment maintenance
Thrives in a fast‑paced, team‑centric, collaborative environment
Highly detail‑oriented and organized
Proven track record of:
Driving teams to goals
Maintaining accountability
Improving efficiency and throughput
Experience promoting Lean Manufacturing culture (Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma) is a strong plus
