Pay Rate: $26.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Material Quality / Laboratory Technician to support Material Quality Engineering functions through comprehensive materials testing and laboratory analysis. This role is responsible for evaluating material properties, identifying abnormalities, and supporting investigations using a wide range of analytical and mechanical testing techniques. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on laboratory experience, attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Job description:
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when using laboratory instrumentation to conduct material evaluations
Work in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Translate analytical testing requests into appropriate sample preparation methods
Set up laboratory equipment, perform testing, collect data, and generate accurate reports
Perform quality testing on materials to determine physical, chemical, and mechanical properties
Identify abnormalities or nonconforming results and promptly report findings
Support material investigations and root cause analysis activities
Actively initiate and participate in problem-solving efforts, including identifying root causes, implementing countermeasures, and preventing recurrence
Maintain, verify, and calibrate laboratory equipment
Document test results, investigations, and activities in accordance with quality standards
Experience with one or more of the following instrumentation and testing methods is preferred:
Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF)
Electron Probe Micro-Analysis (EPMA)
Ion Chromatography
Gas Chromatography (GC)
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)
Tensile Testing
Hardness Testing
Metallography
Plastic/Resin Testing
Paint Testing
Sealer Testing
Metal Cutting and Sample Preparation
Salt Spray / Corrosion Testing
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field OR equivalent experience working in an analytical laboratory
2+ years of experience in materials testing strongly preferred
Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation and materials characterization techniques
Strong analytical skills with the ability to recognize trends and abnormalities in data
Excellent documentation and reporting skills
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with engineering and quality teams

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
