Location: Plainsboro, NJ
Hours: Sundays - Thursdays 7 am - 3:30 pm
Proficiency in refrigeration is REQUIRED!
Summary:
- Acting under the general direction of an Engineering Supervisor, the HVAC/R Mechanic performs a wide variety of duties, the purpose of which isto repair, maintain and/or enhance the physical operation of the facility and its components. In order to have successfully reached the position of HVAC/R Mechanic, the individual must exhibit the skills and capabilities to perform the same duties as a Maintenance Mechanic, (see Job Description – Maintenance Mechanic A.)In addition to being responsible for all general duties of a Maintenance Mechanic, the following list of duties would apply. This is not intended to bean exclusive listing.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshooting – to evaluate any appropriate maintenance problem and take action or actions to correct said problem in an efficient and professional manner as it would apply to the HVAC/R trade. Add comments Meets/Does Not Meet.
- Mechanical – apply knowledge of and demonstrate proficiency in all phases of Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
Inspection and Preventive Maintenance – includes filter cleaning/changing, lubrication, bearing checks, leak tests.
Diagnosis and troubleshooting – includes schematic and blueprint reading/interpreting, control work.
Repair and Maintenance – includes soldering, brazing, welding, electrical circuit repairs, repacking or replacing valves, replacing motors, replacement of refrigeration, insulation.
New Installation – sizing estimating, installing, modification.
Operating – including chillers, cooling towers, refrigeration and freezing units, air handling and heating units, and related controls, D.X. units, A/C units.
Record Keeping – includes PM records, repair lists, parts, and service manuals, and catalogs.
Requisition and Maintenance of Parts and Supplies – includes standard and hard to get parts and supplies.
- Job Coordination – to apply knowledge of and demonstrate proficiency in coordinating a wide variety of job functions.
Scheduling activities with all appropriate departments and/or individuals.
Estimate time and material requirements.
Requisition materials and equipment.
Monitor and inspect work ensure compliance with plans, specifications and regulations.
- Emergency duties –
Snow – removal of all ice and snow from areas owned and operate by The Medical Center.
Fire – respond and lend assistance to assure the safety of patients, visitors and the staff in the event of fire, including the proper use of fire extinguishers.
Natural Disasters – lend aid and assistance in the event of any disaster, Participates in disaster plan.
OTHER JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains standards of confidentiality.
- Consults with and keeps Supervisor informed of activities, needs and problems.
- Assures that all safety tests and preventative maintenance performed is properly documented and other documentation as required.
- Maintain established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, environmental and infection control, and comply with codes and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
- Maintains professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, workshops, etc.
- Care for and maintains supplies, equipment and work areas, remove trash and debris from job area.
- Requisition supply and equipment needs.
- Assists other employees in the performance of trade or other assignments, and performs the same duties as a Maintenance Mechanic A.
- Supports customer service and performance improvement goals of the department
collaborates with other caregivers/staff, within and outside the Department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and service.
- Participates in unit compliance as related to established standards.
Credentials:
- Driver's License (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
Education Specialization:Equivalent Experience:•Or four- (4) year apprenticeship.•Universal Certification for proper refrigerant practices.•And Eight (8) years HVAC/R experience or equivalent experience preferred.•Siemens Building Automation Experience preferred

Salary Range:
$26.73 - $42.64/Hourly
