You may need to work at a higher average per week from April through October and lesser amounts from November through March. The fairgrounds house and utilities are provided as part of the requirements of this position.All county departments must maintain an open and customer service-oriented environment, cooperate with other County departments and governmental entities, and keep accurate and timely records and information.The Fairgrounds Department preserves, enhances, and develops the Fairgrounds for present and future generations through comprehensive planning, capital acquisition, facility development, and event production. The County Fairgrounds hosts fairs, rodeos, livestock shows and sales, equestrian events, and other events and activities that members of the public are invited to attend.Job Summary: The Fairgrounds Facility & Security Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of duties and tasks in the oversight of the Sanders County fairgrounds.Housing Consideration: There is a small residence that exists on the fairgrounds to support this position. The rent and utilities for this residence are part of the compensation package for employment. There is a housing agreement that you will be required to sign.Essential Functions (Major Duties or Responsibilities): These duties are the essential functions and are not all-inclusive of all duties that the incumbent performs. • BUILDING LEASING • Maintains a calendar that lists the building being leased and the individual/firm leasing the element. • Completes a lease agreement with those individuals/firms desiring to lease a fairground’s building. • Opens, closes, locks, and unlocks buildings as needed. • Performs inspections of leased buildings upon the conclusion of the lease to ensure the structure has been properly cleaned. • Responsible for the renting of the Pavilion for various private and public functions on a year-round basis. This includes scheduling, collecting monies, and inspecting the building for cleanliness at the conclusion of the function. • Responsible for the renting of various buildings for storage purposes by the general public during times that the facilities are not being utilized. • Refills toilet paper and hand towel holders for the Pavilion and all bathrooms on grounds. • Keeps inventories of custodial supplies. Notifies Fair Manager when supplies are low and Replaces supplies when required. • Notifies Fair Manager if equipment needs to be repaired or replaced. • During special events, sets up chairs, tables, stages, etc. as required. • FACILITY MAINTNANCE • Marks the underground sprinkler systems in the carnival area to designate the location of all sprinkler heads to prevent damage during the fair events. • Building maintenance support, including painting, light construction, and building upkeep. • Carpentry work and building reconstruction assignments to buildings and structures. • Turns on/off lights as required during functions held on the grounds, such as Christmas Lights. • CAMPER SPACE LEASING • Directs campers to the area where they will encamp. • Assists the camper in connecting to power and water when desired. • Collects fees due when the camper departs the fairgrounds. • Collects/stores fair-owned water bibs and electrical cords used by campers. • FAIRWAY MAINTENANCE • Irrigates the fairground’s four midways. • Helps with the grounds keeping activities to include mowing, raking, collecting garbage, removal of rocks and debris, and other activities supporting keeping grounds in an attractive condition. • Lawn care activities will generally occur from April through November. • SECURITY • Oversees the fairgrounds to deter vandalism and theft. • EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE • Inspects and maintains assigned small tools, mowers, custodial, and other equipment for proper operating condition. • SAFETY • Maintains awareness of other vehicles, people, and other safety hazards near work sites. • Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards. • PUBLIC RELATIONS • Greets the public in a friendly manner. • Answers the public’s questions and/or routes to appropriate personnel. • Maintains professionalism by exercising tact and courtesy at all times. • FAIR EVENT RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assists all commercial and mobile food vendors in locating their assigned spaces upon arrival. • Completes all other Fair event duties as assigned by the Fair Manager. • SUPPORT DUTIES • Other minor activities on an occasional basis as directed by the Fairgrounds Manager. • Answers inquiries, providing information based on knowledge of County Fair programs and activities. • Oversees the fairgrounds park area to deter vandalism and theft.Physical Demands and Working Conditions: The demands and conditions described here are representative of those the employee must meet to perform the essential functions of the job. • Requires standing and walking, talking and hearing, and reaching. • Requires climbing, crawling, and stooping to inspect buildings and grounds and grandstands to monitor conditions and perform maintenance functions. • The incumbent is frequently required to lift to 25 pounds and infrequently required to lift/move 50 pounds. • Must be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate exposure to dust and chemicals used in cleaning and maintaining buildings and grounds, and animal dander. • The noise level during events and concerts can be very loud • Frequently, the employee is required to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and in high precarious places. • The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electric shock, and vibration, as well as herbicides and diesel fumes.Supervision Exercised: List jobs reporting to the subject position and level of supervisory authority. This position does not supervise any County employees.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Possess a strong level of skills in minor repairs and the ability to support landscaping duties; solid administrative and customer relations skills are a must for the position.Education and Experience: • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. • Two years of general maintenance experience, including carpentry skills. • Valid State driver’s license. • Ability to follow safety procedures. • Ability to work various days and shifts.Health and Safety Responsibility: The safety and health responsibilities described herein are representative of those an employee will be responsible / accountable for while performing the essential functions of this job.
