Amergis is seeking a skilled Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year in Placerville, CA. Candidates available to start immediately may also be considered for the remainder of the current school year and may secure early placement for next year.
Position Overview
The Teacher for the Visually Impaired provides students with high-quality instructional experiences tailored to support their social, emotional, and academic development. This role includes organizing and implementing specialized programming for students with visual impairments, promoting independence and success.
Compensation
$65/hr – $75/hr (based on experience)
$3,000 bonus paid as follows:
$1,000 at Thanksgiving break
$1,000 at Winter break
$1,000 at Spring break
Travel Pay Packages available for qualified candidates
Employment Details
In-Person Only
Full-Time or Part-Time (flexible)
Itinerant role — must be open to traveling between multiple school sites
Caseload: Approximately 30 students
Schedule: Create your own daily/weekly schedule
No case management
IEP meeting participation required
Work Hours: 37.5 hours/week (for full-time)
Estimated Start Date: August 10, 2026

Candidates interviewing only for 2026–2027 will receive official school site and caseload confirmation in May 2026.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
Valid state teaching certificate as required by regulations
One year of experience as a TVI (preferred)
Current CPR certification (if applicable)
TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
Current health certificate as required
Must meet all federal, state, and local compliance standards
Must be at least 18 years old
Key Responsibilities
Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments
Adapt curriculum and materials for accessibility
Collaborate with school teams, educators, and related service providers
Support academic, social, and emotional development
Participate in IEP meetings and provide expert input
