THE OPPORTUNITY
Sheriff's Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisors have the opportunity to serve their communities in a unique way; following the Sheriff's Vision of Total Care and connecting services to citizens in their time of need. Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisors are assigned to the Public Safety Facility in Placerville, CA, acting as first level supervisors for the Dispatch Unit and reporting to the Sheriff's Public Safety Dispatch Manager.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:
Organize, supervise, review and direct the work of the assigned Public Safety Dispatch staff.
Contribute to the overall quality of the Sheriff's Office service by developing, reviewing and implementing policies and procedures to met legal and regulatory requirements and County needs.
Direct dispatchers in determining appropriate actions to take in any situation that is not clearly defined in policy and procedures; using good judgement to ensure the safety of citizens and responders.
Operates multi-channel radio systems, monitors other communication channels, while maintaining radio traffic on main channels.
Operates computer equipment to access local, state and federal criminal justice information systems; operates communication systems to transmit and receive information with allied law enforcement agencies.

SHERIFF'S PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCH SUPERVISOR
Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
Equivalent to graduation from high school
AND
One (1) year of lead-level emergency dispatching experience equivalent to the County's class of Sheriff's Senior Public Safety Dispatcher.
OR
Three (3) years of journey-level emergency dispatching experience at a level equivalent to the County's class of Sheriff's Public Safety Dispatcher II
Licenses and Certifications:
Possess or be eligible to possess a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Professional Public Safety Dispatcher Intermediate Dispatcher Certificate.
A POST Dispatcher Supervisory Certificate is desirable.
Obtain POST Communications Training Officer training within one (1) year of appointment.
May be required to possess or obtain additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the supervisor or Sheriff.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS
The Sheriff’s Personnel Unit will screen all applications to identify qualified candidates. Those applicants who meet the minimum requirements for this position will be required to complete a pre-investigative questionnaire. Based on the information provided, applicants may be disqualified based on criteria set forth in Part 7, Section 706.1 of the County of El Dorado Personnel Rules and in conjunction with Sheriff’s Selection Policy 1000. A training and experience evaluation will be utilized to determine an applicant's ability to continue in the recruitment process ranking for referral to specific vacancies.
