City of Pittsfield Playground Supervisor in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

JOB TITLE: PLAYGROUND SUPERVISOR DEPARTMENT: DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT EMPLOYMENT TYPE: FULL-TIME SEASONAL/NON-EXEMPT UNION/NON-UNION: NON-UNION The City of Pittsfield\'s Recreation Department is seeking a qualified individual to fill the seasonal position of Playground Supervisor. Under the direction of the Recreation and Special Events Coordinator, the Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and the operations of the summer playground program. RESPONSIBILITIES - Must work effectively with Playground Leaders and members of the public and respond to inquiries and complaints in a positive and professional manner. - Supervises Playground Leaders; regularly holds staff meetings with the leaders for program monitoring. - Develops daily structured programs. - Aids in marketing and advertising of the program. - Aids in preparation of final program evaluation. - Responsible for performing the duties of the Playground Leaders. - Ability to prioritize and respond to situations and emergencies in a positive and professional manner. - Performs other duties as assigned or required. QUALIFICATIONS - Must be able to work the duration of the program. The 2025 program runs from July 7th-August 15th. - Must be 15 years of age or older. - Candidates under the age of 18 must provide Employment Permit (working papers), which may be obtained from the Pittsfield School Administration Building. WORKING CONDITIONS The incumbent works in various dynamic locations. While performing the duties of Playground Supervisor the incumbent is required to: interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City. Frequent periods of outside, sometimes inclement weather. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be capable of moving freely through the parks, interacting with the program attendees. Must be capable of carrying at least 25 pounds. HOURS 40 hours per week Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm SALARY \$17.99 - \$23.37 per hour. Hourly rate commensurate with experience.
