UPMC is looking for a full time Supervisor, Fleet Transportation & Safety, to support our UPMC Pittsburgh transit.
This position works daylight Monday-Friday. Weekends off!
Purpose:
Provide supervision & coordination for safety related incidents. Available/accountable for all shifts. Manage daily operations of the safety requirements to include scheduling, investigating incidents, conducting drills, safety inspections and in-service training. This also includes evaluation of shuttle drivers, drivers and dispatchers within their assigned business unit(s). Available by phone 24 hours per day as required.
Responsibilities:
Direct day-to-day supervision of all safety related issues on any shift as needed by Director/Manager.
Assists in monitoring D.O.T. compliance. Complies with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company regulations, policies, and standards pertaining to fleet safety compliance.
Provide assistance to Business Managers as needed for Safety related issues, conducting drills, accident investigations and in service training. Ensure proper documentation and follow-up action of same is completed. (e.g. discrepancy reports).
Conduct CSC and satellite unit fire drills as directed. Insure accurate, proper and timely documentation of same.
Complete periodic on-the-job training of all supervisors and staff to ensure adequate cross training of personnel is assured.
Maintain all accurate records of yearly training and competencies.
Assist in record keeping of daily operations to include documenting necessary information to be used for evaluation purposes of all employees.
Act as a department representative in performing and conducting in-service training programs in fire safety, hazard communications, and others as required.
Conduct initial investigations into all affected incidents, and others as assigned by Director/Manager. Perform follow-up as appropriate.
Maintain a professional image and code of ethics which reflects SCM Department, as well as the UPMC Service Excellence attitude and approach to all people at all times.
Perform and complete any and all assignments as directed by Director/Manager or other appropriate staff members.
Available by phone 24 hours per day if required or an emergency.
Standard Responsibilities
Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree Safety Administration or a related field or the equivalent of four years of supervisory experience in these areas.
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a safety or transportation environment.
Deep understanding of Transportation regulations and government policies related to transporting people and transportation.
Strong leadership and teamwork skills required
Understands vehicular specifications and fleet planning
Valid CDL driver's license is preferred or commitment to obtain.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Both Commercial Driver's License Class B and Passenger Endorsement are required within 6 months of hire.
Cleared to drive according to FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearing House.
