Senior Staff Accountant

Overview

The Senior Staff Accountant provides critical support to the Finance Director and Business Unit General Manager, contributing to the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of the organization’s financial operations. This role manages key accounting processes, supports financial reporting requirements, and collaborates across departments to ensure smooth financial workflow.

Essential Functions

  • Manage customer invoicing and all accounts receivable activities, including credit control. Partner with Project Management to meet invoicing requirements and ensure timely customer payments.

  • Assist with accounts payable processing and related activities.

  • Prepare and process bi‑weekly payroll along with all associated journal entries.

  • Maintain the fixed asset register and prepare monthly depreciation entries.

  • Administer the employer‑sponsored 401(k) plan, including uploading contribution and matching data to the third‑party platform.

  • Prepare project analysis reports for quality and performance review meetings.

  • Maintain cash receipt forecasts based on current backlog.

  • Support the preparation of schedules for month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close, including audit and tax‑related schedules.

  • Review customer purchase orders and project budgets for accurate project setup in the ERP system.

  • Assist with general ledger reconciliations and financial analyses.

  • Support external audits, including financial statement, 401(k) plan, and workers’ compensation audits.

    Requirements

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of seven years of relevant accounting experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting.

  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system required.

  • Payroll processing experience required; ADP experience preferred.

  • Experience working within a multi‑state and multi‑entity environment preferred.

  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
