*LOCATION : The preferred location for this role is Pittsburgh, PA or Erie, PA. Additional Wabtec office locations may be considered.
Role Summary:
The Senior Director – HR Business Partner, Global Freight Operations, provides strategic and operational HR leadership across a complex, multi-site manufacturing and operations footprint. This role supports approximately 15 operating sites in the US and Mexico, representing 1,700 employees across union and non-union environments, with continued workforce growth anticipated.
How will you make a difference?
The role has direct leadership responsibility for a team of approximately 12 HR professionals and serves as a critical advisor to senior operations leadership. Given the scale, labor complexity, and strategic importance of the footprint, this position plays a decisive role in risk management, labor strategy, workforce planning, and enterprise-wide change initiatives supporting Global Operations.
What will your typical day look like?
Provide leadership and expertise for the full scope of Human Resource (HR) functions, including talent management, succession planning, leading organizational change, and facilitating team performance.
Partner with Global Freight Ops leadership in areas of organizational talent & strategy, compensation & benefits, learning strategies, and continuous improvement.
Perform a leadership role in recruiting, selection, restructuring, and reduction of the workforce as needed.
Develop and lead a strategy to ensure robust pipeline and succession plans are in place.
Own and participate in CBA negotiations at unionized locations.
Facilitate culture and communications throughout the organization; work with leaders to ensure successful implementation of change efforts.
Be responsible for compensation plans, rewards, and recognition programs that are equitable and in line with the organization’s goals.
Act as an impartial advocate to ensure that all individuals receive fair and equitable treatment.
Be a champion for change and an advocate for inclusion across the extended organization.
Effectively coach and manage a direct and dotted-line global HR team.
What do we want to know about you?
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a variety of Human Resource positions, both staff and client-based.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Human Resource leadership role.
Previous HR team management experience.
Candidate must be willing to travel up to 30%.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Labor Relations, or Business Administration.
Employee and Union relations experience, and contract negotiations experience.
Global HR Leadership Experience.
Previous experience working as part of a Corporate business team providing HR strategy & direction.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Previous Labor Relations experience.
Ability to influence & engage at all levels of the business, including senior leadership.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong coaching skills.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $164,900-235,000 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
