Pittsburgh Public Schools Project Manager of Future Ready Facilities Plan in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Board has authorized the posting of the Project Manager of Future Ready Facilities Plan position to support planning and operational readiness; however, this action does not constitute approval or final adoption of the proposed plan, which remains under Board consideration.

This is a project-based, 24-month, temporary role designed to support the district school reconfiguration, with an expected completion date of June 30, 2028. Given the complexity and evolving nature of district reconfiguration, the essential job functions listed below are representative of the duties required; this list is not all-inclusive and may be adjusted to meet the needs of the project.

The Project Manager of Future Ready Facilities Plan *is directly supervised by the *Superintendent and leads, coordinates, and implements the strategic, operational, and human capital aspects of districtwide school reconfiguration efforts, including school closures, consolidations, and grade reconfigurations. This position serves as the central point of contact for cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring that reconfiguration activities are aligned with the district's strategic plan, executed with operational excellence, and carried out with transparency, equity, and care for impacted students, families, staff, and stakeholders. The Manager will develop and manage project timelines, facilitate stakeholder engagement, strengthen accountability, and provide critical support to district and school leaders throughout the transition process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.     Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of districtwide reconfiguration initiatives, including school closures, consolidations, and grade-level reconfigurations.

2.     Develop and monitor detailed implementation timelines, benchmarks, and deliverables across all departments involved in reconfiguration.

3.     Facilitate cross-functional coordination among Communications, Curriculum & Instruction, Equity, Finances/Budget, Human Resources, Plant Operations, Professional Learning, Program for Students with Exceptionalities; School Performance, Student Support Services, Transportation, and other divisions/ departments to ensure coherent and efficient execution.

4.     Ensure that all aspects of the reconfiguration plan---from building transitions to academic program realignments---are completed on schedule, within scope, and within budget.

5.     Collaborate closely with Department Chiefs and the Communications team to serve as the primary point of coordination between the District and external consultants, contractors, and community partners, ensuring clear communication, consistency, transparency, and alignment of messaging.

6.     Track progress on key milestones, flag risks, and prepare regular status updates and reports for the District's Executive Leadership Cabinet and the Board of Directors.

7.     Support the development of communication and engagement plans to ensure staff, families, and community members are informed and supported throughout the transition.

8.     Collaborate with district leadership to identify, monitor, and address potential impacts on staffing, enrollment, facilities, and academic programming.

9.     Facilitate and document project meetings, ensuring follow-up actions are assigned, tracked, and completed.

10. Promote equity-centered implementation practices that minimize disruption and uphold fairness, transparency, and trust among stakeholders.

11. Identify opportu ities for improved efficiency, accountability, and long-term sustainability within the reconfiguration process.

12. Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the department's or school's goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals.

EDUCATION REQUIRED ·      Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Organizational Management, Project Management, or a related field required. A combination of relevant experience and/or education may be considered in lieu of a specific degree or experience rating.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE ·      Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, educational operations, organizational change, or strategic planning.

·      Experience in a K--12 public school district or public-sector organization preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES ·      Comprehensive understanding of K-12 district operations, school configuration processes, staffing. structures and public education systems preferred.

·      Proven ability to lead large-scale, cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders.

·      Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data.

·      Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic thinking skills, with an ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

·      Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, including experience presenting to senior leaders and boards.

·      Proficiency in project management tools and data tracking tools, in particular Microsoft Suites.

·      Demonstrated knowledge of change management principles and effective transition planning.

·      Ability to navigate sensitive issues with discretion, diplomacy, and equity-minded decision-making.

·      Commitment to operational excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

·      Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities.
