Position: DSP (Full Time; Location: Allegheny county)
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a critical role in assisting individuals with disabilities in their daily lives. DSPs promote independence, ensure health and safety, and support individuals in achieving personal goals at home and in the community. This position requires compassion, reliability, strong communication skills, and a commitment to enhancing quality of life.
- Work settings may include residential homes, day programs, or community-based settings.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
PTO and Health benefits for full-time employees commence upon completion of 90 days of continuous employment.
Direct Support Professional Key Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on support with activities of daily living, including cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility assistance.
- Support individuals in community activities, appointments, social events, and recreational outings.
- Assist with implementing individualized service plans, behavioral support strategies, and person-centered goals.
- Encourage independence, skill building, and personal growth in all daily activities.
- Administer medications in accordance with training, certification, and agency policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and health records.
- Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment at all times.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, families, and external providers.
- Uphold agency values, state regulations, and principles of dignity, respect, and person-centered care.
- May include residential homes, day programs, or community settings.

* Qualifications*
Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to pass all required background checks and clearances.
- Must be willing to attend required training or submit proof of completed training before receiving cases.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required---comprehensive training provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift or assist individuals as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
