Manages the operations of medium-sized academic department or organization unit, primarily in the areas of human resources, finance and operations. The College of Fine Arts is searching for a Business Manager for the School of Design. This is a dynamic opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and ambitious work environment. You will contribute by managing the operations of medium-sized academic department or organization unit, primarily in the areas of human resources, finance and operations. Serves as a resource and advisor to faculty and staff on matters of compliance, policy, administration and planning. Develops budgets and monitors performance against plan; leads quarterly and annual budget reviews. Oversees implementation of university programs by coordinating efforts with internal and external staff. Manages assigned operational areas within the unit. This position may oversee the preparation and management of grants and contract proposals involving a variety of funding sources and agencies. The Business Manager typically has budgetary responsibility of between $6-15M
Your core responsibilities will include:
Accountable for business and financial support to units/department with collective budgets generally ranging from approximately $5 mm to $20 mm. Represents unit in financial and budget reviews.
Administers and advises department on financial resource matters and policies and procedures. Advises management on compliance and supporting policies and guidelines. Oversees/manages the development and oversight of the budget.
Consults with key management on projects and roll-out of staff and other programs within the unit; prepares or oversees preparation of business information reporting and analysis.
If in an academic unit may oversee the preparation of proposals and administration of grants and contracts for academic units. Coordinates with the office of sponsored projects and accounting. Ensures compliance with government regulations, agency requirements and internal policies and procedures.
Oversees or manages administrative units in support of the operations of the area that may include human resources, facilities planning etc. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures and may develop unit policies, procedure and/or guidelines to support administration of programs and functions.
Serves as a member of the management team supporting the overall mission of the college or organization.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree - Preferred Area's of Study - Business / Business Administration or Finance or Accounting.
5-8 Years of Accounting Experience
5-8 Years of Business Administration Experience
5-8 Years of Finance Experience
Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
Excellent Project Management Skills
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
