Kane Regional Centers Assistant Director of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing AND two (2) years of supervisory or management experience in a long-term care or health care facility OR an Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma AND four (4) years of supervisory or management experience in a long-term care or health care facility.
MUST SHOW PROOF OF A CURRENT LICENSE TO PRACTICE AS A REGISTERED NURSE IN PENNSYLVANIA AND CURRENT CPR/BLS CERTIFICATION PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT.
It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment.
Duties:
- Supervises and directs assigned units. Manages workflow on all shifts.
- Participates in facility surveys and inspections as requested by the Administrator or Director.
- Reports QA Audit results to the Director. Implements corrective actions to address results of audits as necessary.
- Works with the Director to develop and implement correction action plans to address department deficiencies.
- Assists in the investigation of employee, resident, and family complaints and grievances. Recommends corrective action. Investigates resident abuse allegations and misappropriations of resident property.
- Ensures residents are provided with professional, kind, and respectful care. Supervises and evaluates the level of resident care.
- Ensures all nursing personnel are performing their duties according to the acceptable nursing standards.
- Monitors subordinates' time and attendance. Recommends and implements disciplinary actions as needed.
- Performs other duties as requested or required.
Knowledge of:
- Nursing and medical practices and the laws and regulations that govern long-term care.
- Principles and practices of leadership and supervision of employees.
Ability to:
- Seek and develop process improvement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with residents and colleagues.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff.
- Read and analyze financial and statistical reports.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate the quality of care and treatment provided to residents.
- Work with ill, disabled, and elderly people within a long-term care facility.
