SCOPE AND FUNCTION: Under general supervision, will be required to perform manual duties which are but no limited to: excavation hand work, scaffolding erection, general maintenance, painting, trench shoring installation, and working with other trades when required. Will also be required to have general operational knowledge of sewer jetting and vacuum unit, skid steer, trencher, compaction equipment, telehandler, and snow removal equipment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: May instruct lower-level personnel when required. Will be required to have experience as it relates to underground utilities. Must be proficient and highly skilled in excavating for utilities to protect university assets from damage and not impact university operations. Working environment will be internal and external trades personnel and may also include outside contractors.Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment and reporting all issues to supervisor. Will be lead person for housekeeping on sites and shop locations. Must be able to perform general mechanical maintenance to equipment: Grease units, change lights, cleaning, hydraulic, oil, and fluid checks.Experience and knowledge in the excavation and proper installation bedding and compaction of utility piping and distribution systems per University Standards. Proper excavation procedures under OSHA guidelines. Utility mark-out procedures as required by B.P.U.Experience operating snowplow equipment during adverse weather conditions. Must be able to work independently and instruct lower-level reports when required. Will be required to operate snowplow, or heavy equipment such as backhoe or front-end loader with snow box attachment.Experience in the operation of high-pressure sewer jetting equipment and also vacuum equipment as relates to storm and sanitary distribution systems. Must have a CDL- A endorsement for truck and trailer operation.
