Job Summary
The Manager, Business Continuity Program safeguards IEEE's ability to effectively conduct business through the development, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the IEEE's Business Continuity Program.
The manager provides leadership in coordinating, assessing, developing and communicating recovery environment requirements, and contingency plans, to protect the IEEE in the event that facilities and/or necessary technology resources are unavailable due to an unplanned disruption.
Provide project leadership among the business units, technology groups and other interested parties with respect to business continuity requirements based on business impact analysis. The manager will maintain ongoing communication and interaction with business units and support groups for the purpose of planning, directing, controlling, and maintaining the contingency planning effort.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate all appropriate business continuity planning activities. Specifically the incumbent will:
- Lead business units in the development of their business impact analysis; o Lead business units in development of Business Continuity Plans as indicated by the Business Impact Analysis as part of the BCP effort, coordinate business unit requirements for technology (IT related support) and physical facilities to ensure appropriate resources are available to support continuing and ongoing business needs in the event of an unplanned disruption;
- Develop, revise, update and maintain the IEEE-wide crisis response procedures and communicate same to all interested parties.
- Participate as an active member of the RIAG (Risk Identification and Assessment Group) and represent the BCP initiative as necessary.
- Participate in the management of any vendors selected to support the Business Continuity initiative. o Conduct Table-top exercises and remediate gaps identified.
- Responsible for managing business continuity software platform.
- Ensure all business units plans are updated as per defined cadence in the business continuity software platform.
- Responsible for maintaining Master Business Continuity Plan documents and ensure respective procedures are up-to-date.
- Ensure Communications, IT, Facilities plans are updated as per defined cadence.
- Create & maintain Finance & Administration Business Impact Analysis, Business continuity Implementation plan.
- Mentor & Coach junior team members on Business continuity.

Qualifications
Education- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience business or engineering Pref
Work Experience- 7-10 years business impact analysis, business continuity planning, disaster recovery and/or project management experience. Req
- Experience working in a not-for-profit environment with volunteer relationship management Pref
Licenses and Certifications - certification in a relevant area of business continuity (CBCP, etc) or project management Pref
Skills and Requirements - Technology Skill Set: The incumbent be a technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges. Specific technology knowledge and experience needed to produce the desired outcomes include the following: Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Word and Power Point). Experience and proficient with business continuity software platform(s) is mandatory.
- The Manager, Business Continuity Program position requires frequent contact with all levels of Institute management, staff and occasionally volunteers. All of these interactions require the incumbent to establish rapport with the involved individuals and/or groups in order to resolve open issues, or enhance processes, or reach desired outcomes.
- Must be able to identify key risks and analyze issues, problems, recommend and implement solutions related to Business Continuity Management.
- With minimal supervision, coordinate and facilitate all business continuity planning activities.
