Job Summary:
We are seeking a Business Analyst to join the Brazil Analytics Center of Excellence within Global Finance Services. This role is focused on providing technical expertise and performing complex accounting work that supports business processes related to investment analysis and decision support. This role works as a business partner being responsible to independently perform accounting functions which require preparation, analysis, and communication of normal to high complexity that support Caterpillar business processes, including product groups, operations, and leadership.
The position plays a critical role in evaluating investments, supporting New Product Introductions (NPIs), and ensuring disciplined capital and cost decision‑making across the organization.
Additionally, this position will:
Have a comprehensive understanding of Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems and procedures.
Resolve issues independently and performing Complex Staff Work
Communicates effectively within the team and with internal and external customers and data providers
Understands and manages customer requirements and expectations.
The analyst will be exposed to a variety of accounting functions and will accomplish a high level of complex and/or technical analysis, analyze various outputs, advise others (both accountants and non-accountants), resolve issues and communicate these outcomes. In some cases, will participate in strategy development. Works on challenging, medium to high risk issues and makes decisions and recommendations as appropriate.
What you will do:
Perform complex cost, capital, and investment analyses, providing financial guidance to both accounting and non‑accounting stakeholders
Evaluate and advise on capital investment decisions, including economic feasibility, risk assessment, and value creation
Determine Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), payback, and other financial metrics for complex and strategic projects
Provide end‑to‑end New Product Introduction (NPI) financial support, including:
Perform Operating Profit After Capital Charge (OPACC) determination and analysis, ensuring consistency with corporate financial and investment guidelines
Lead and complete Post‑Implementation Audits (PIA), comparing planned versus actual investment results and identifying root causes of variances
Prepare and present investment cases, cost analyses, and financial recommendations to business partners and product group leadership
Actively identify and implement process, cost, and efficiency improvement opportunities, strengthening the quality, speed, and reliability of cost and investment analyses.

Proactive identification of risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
Ability to work independently while collaborating across functions
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Applications
Pre‑advanced English
Top Candidates Will Have
Strong experience in cost accounting, investment analysis, and product economics
Hands‑on experience with NPV, IRR, capital evaluations, and post‑implementation reviews
Experience with analytical and automation tools (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, Python)
Proven track record in process improvement and financial decision support
MBA, CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or similar certification
Advanced or English
