Job Summary:

The Industrial Automation Maintenance Technician-Level 3 will be responsible for programming, supporting, maintaining, and improving PLC-based control systems (Siemens focused), smart sensors, automated material handling systems, and integrated diagnostic equipment. This role includes troubleshooting, repair, programming, and performing preventive maintenance on all electronically controlled and robotic systems to ensure their optimal functionality and reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Diagnose and repair faults in robotic systems, servo drives, sensors, automation networks, PLC controlled equipment, and electromechanical systems

  2. Perform PLC troubleshooting, maintenance, and basic to intermediate programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent)

  3. Maintain and repair robotic cells, including end of arm tooling, safety devices, and system calibration

  4. Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance using diagnostic tools, lubrication, inspections, cleaning, calibration, and system logs

  5. Install and upgrades by assembling and installing new automated equipment, components, or software updates

  6. Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and mechanical drawings

  7. Collaborate with engineering and production teams during new equipment installation and commissioning

  8. Maintain documentation on repairs, downtime, equipment status, and recommended improvements

  9. Ensure safety compliance within OSHA and company safety regulations with lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and electrical safety standards

  10. Train operators and shift techs on basic troubleshooting and system care

  11. Improve system optimization by improving production efficiency by calibrating sensors, servo motors, and adjusting machinery logic

  12. Programming robotics & PLCs, leading complex diagnostics, commissioning

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken

  2. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions

  3. Working knowledge of PLC logic, industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus), and HMI systems

  4. Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

  5. Ability to work with VFDs, safety circuits, and servo motors

  6. Familiarity with robot brands (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Yaskawa, etc.) preferred

  7. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and documentation

  8. Strong communication and teamwork mindset

Physical Demands:

  1. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis and up to 35 pounds regularly

  2. Job requires frequent pulling, twisting, bending, reaching, crouching, and lifting

  3. Manipulating robotic arms and end-of-arm tooling

  4. Working with servos, PLC components, and electrical sensors

  5. Working with hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and diagnostic software

  6. Ability to stand or sit for extended times

Personal Protective Equipment:

  1. Safety glasses with side shields are required at all times

  2. Ear protection may be necessary at certain times

  3. Safety shoes are required for employees assigned to the production floor

  4. Safety gloves are necessary for some work procedures

Work Environment:

  1. Work is performed in a production setting where one is exposed to noise, fumes, heat, and cold

  2. May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shift from one station to another, during production process

  3. International and domestic travel will be expected

Minimum Education Required

Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics, or Industrial Electrical

Minimum Experience Required
  1. 5+ years of experience in automation, robotics, industrial maintenance, or mechatronics

  2. Experience with SCADA systems, data monitoring, or digital maintenance platforms

  3. Preferred Certifications: OSHA 10/30, Fanuc CERT, Rockwell Automation training, etc.

  4. Previous experience in a production setting is preferred
