Job Summary:
As an Industrial Automation Maintenance Technician-Level 1, you will assist in supporting, maintaining, and improving PLC-based control systems (Siemens focused), smart sensors, automated material handling systems, and diagnostic equipment. In this role, you will be trained in troubleshooting, repairing, programming, and performing preventive maintenance on various electronically controlled and robotic systems. You will work alongside experienced technicians to learn best practices, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to ensuring the optimal functionality and reliability of our automation systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure safety compliance within OSHA and company safety regulations with lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine
guarding, and electrical safety standardsUnderstanding PLC-based control systems and robotics
Gaining skills in system diagnostics and troubleshooting
Assisting with programming and system calibration
Participating in routine preventive maintenance tasks
Ensuring smooth operation of automated equipment and robotic systems
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken
Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to learn of PLC logic, industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus), and HMI systems
Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Ability to learn VFDs, safety circuits, and servo motors
Familiarity with robot brands (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Yaskawa, etc.) preferred
Ability to learn technical manuals and documentation
Strong communication and teamwork mindset
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis and up to 35 pounds regularly
Job requires frequent pulling, twisting, bending, reaching, crouching, and lifting
Manipulating robotic arms and end-of-arm tooling
Working with servos, PLC components, and electrical sensors
Working with hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and diagnostic software
Ability to stand or sit for extended times
Personal Protective Equipment:
Safety glasses with side shields are required at all times
Ear protection may be necessary at certain times
Safety shoes are required for employees assigned to the production floor
Safety gloves are necessary for some work procedures
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a production setting where one is exposed to noise, fumes, heat, and cold
May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shift from one station to another, during production process
International and domestic travel will be expected
Minimum Education Required
HS diploma or GED
Minimum Experience Required
0-2 years of experience in automation, robotics, industrial maintenance, or mechatronics
Previous experience in a production setting is preferred
Extensive on-the-job and classroom training will be expected
