U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic in Pine Bluff Arsenal, Arkansas

Summary About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Pine Bluff Arsenal in Pine Bluff Arkansas. Position serves as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic performing installation and repairs of various heating and air conditioning equipment. Responsibilities Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair a variety of commercial and industrial air conditioning equipment and related devices. Use knowledge to test equipment and locate and diagnose problems in commercial and industrial air conditioning equipment. Assemble and install equipment such as thermostats, motors, and outlets. Select proper material needed to install, modify, or repair commercial and industrial air conditioning equipment. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform tasks associated with the work of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic performing simple repairs and installations - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Troubleshooting Frequently carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms where the parts of systems worked on are frequently in hard to reach places. Mechanic is required to stand, stoop, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Works inside and outside, on top of tall buildings, in attic spaces, and in cramped areas with low overhead clearance. Electrical work is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. Works in controlled areas which requires special safety clothing and face masks. Mechanic is occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks and burns and frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. Incumbent will be required to work outdoors during inclement or during hot/cold weather conditions. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
