Job Title:
Project Manager – Electric Utility (High Voltage Infrastructure)
Position Summary:
The Project Manager – Electric Utility is responsible for leading high‑voltage electrical infrastructure projects on behalf of utility clients. This role provides project management and construction management oversight for transmission, distribution, and substation projects from early planning and permitting through construction and closeout.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience working directly with electric utilities, a strong understanding of high‑voltage systems, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams while maintaining a client‑focused, safety‑driven approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as Project Manager for electric utility transmission, distribution, and substation projects
Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and risk for high‑voltage projects (typically ranging from approximately 12kV to 500kV)
Act as the primary point of contact for utility clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle
Coordinate with internal engineering, surveying, and construction management teams to support project delivery
Oversee project elements including:
Utility coordination and stakeholder engagement
Siting, permitting, and right‑of‑way support
Contractor procurement and construction planning
Constructability reviews and sequencing
Schedule tracking, cost forecasting, and reporting
Lead project meetings, field walks, and coordination meetings with utilities, contractors, and local agencies
Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, standards, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations
Review and process change orders, pay applications, and project documentation
Support large‑load service requests and system upgrade projects requiring transmission or substation modifications
Mentor junior staff and support overall project team development
Assist with proposals, scope development, and client interviews as needed
Required Qualifications:
3-7 years of experience supporting electric utility transmission, distribution, or substation projects
Experience working directly with investor‑owned utilities, municipal utilities, or power authorities
Strong understanding of utility construction practices and project execution
Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a hybrid office/field environment
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with:
Substation expansions and new builds
Overhead and underground transmission line construction
High‑megawatt load or system reinforcement projects
Familiarity with NESC requirements, utility standards, and OSHA safety regulations
Experience coordinating permitting, land acquisition, and agency approvals
Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
