This position is based at our corporate office in Phoenix, AZ, and follows a hybrid work schedule. Remote work is not available for this role. Candidates must reside within commuting distance, as relocation assistance is not provided. Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager will lead cross-functional initiatives supporting the Supply Chain and Merchandising teams within a dynamic retail organization. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering complex, high-impact projects that improve operational efficiency, inventory performance, product flow, vendor collaboration, and overall merchandising effectiveness. The ideal candidate combines strong project leadership with deep understanding of retail supply chain operations, merchandising processes, systems implementations, and change management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
Lead end-to-end project management for strategic initiatives across Supply Chain and Merchandising.
Define project scope, objectives, milestones, and deliverables aligned with business goals.
Develop detailed project plans including timelines, resource allocation, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks, and implement mitigation plans.
Supply Chain Initiatives
Manage projects related to inventory optimization, demand planning, forecasting, replenishment, logistics, distribution, and vendor management.
Partner with Distribution Centers, Transportation, and Procurement teams to streamline product flow and improve service levels.
Support system implementations and enhancements (ERP, WMS, planning tools).
Drive initiatives that improve fill rates, reduce stockouts, and increase inventory turns.
Merchandising Initiatives
Lead merchandising transformation projects including assortment planning, pricing strategy, promotions, product lifecycle management, and category resets.
Coordinate seasonal planning calendars and cross-functional launch activities.
Partner with Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, and Store Operations to align timelines and execution.
Support data-driven decision-making through reporting enhancements and analytics integration.
Stakeholder & Change Management
Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT, Finance, and Operations.
Facilitate steering committees, executive updates, and cross-functional working sessions.
Drive organizational change management and adoption strategies.
Build strong partnerships across departments to ensure alignment and accountability.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and standardize processes.
Implement best practices in project governance and documentation.
Champion continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field.
7+ years of project management experience, preferably in retail.
3+ years supporting Supply Chain, Merchandising, or both.
Proven experience leading large, cross-functional initiatives.
Strong knowledge of retail supply chain operations and merchandising processes.
Experience with ERP, planning systems, and data/reporting tools.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
Experience with Agile and/or hybrid project methodologies.
Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certification preferred.
