CLA is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Indirect Tax Analyst to join our Internal Finance Tax Team.

CLA is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Indirect Tax Analyst to join its Internal Finance Tax Team. This role is responsible for maintaining sales/use tax compliance processes leveraging Vertex O Series, Workday/ERP, and Alteryx to ensure accurate tax determinations, processing / reporting, and data integrity. This includes but is not limited to analyzing tax requirements and system impacts, supporting monthly compliance processing and tax audits. The individual will also collaborate with Finance, Billing and IT Groups to drive compliant, efficient, and automated indirect tax processes.

How you’ll create opportunities in this Senior Indirect Tax Analyst role:

  • Serve as subject matter expert for Vertex O Series (U.S.) and Vertex Certificate Center, ensuring accurate and compliant indirect tax determination across enterprise systems.

  • Administer and maintain Vertex tax rules, mappings, and content updates, partnering with Indirect Tax onrequirements, testing, and deployment.

  • Own functional support of the Vertex O Series / Workday integration, troubleshooting tax process and data flow issues with Finance Innovation and IT.

  • Analyze and resolve tax issues in collaboration with Accounts Payable and Central Billing.

  • Perform and review monthly indirect tax reconciliations between Vertex O Series and the Workday trial balance, investigating / resolving variances and processing JE tax adjustments.

  • Assess indirect tax law changes for system impact and coordinate timely configuration updates and testing in Vertex O Series.

  • Support tax audits, tax compliance, system controls, and automation initiatives by providing technical documentation, data extracts, and system expertise.

  • Provide tax systems support for IT led projects, including Vertex O Series configuration, tax requirements, and coordinated ERP testing.

  • Apply end to end knowledge of indirect tax processes to help improve tax data management, controls, and process efficiencies using Alteryx.

  • Monitor high risk and high dollar transactions to proactively identify systemic tax, configuration, or data integrity issues.

  • Manage exemption certificate workflows within Vertex Certificate Center, including validation, loading, and issue resolution.

  • Produce and analyze Vertex and Workday tax reports supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax return filings.

  • Assist Indirect Tax as requested with sale/use tax compliance as well as other indirect tax types.

What you will need:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience required

  • U.S. indirect tax experience preferred.

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Combination of relevant experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology or a related field preferred.

  • CPA or CM I preferred.

  • Tax software vendor certified preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

  • Proficiency with Vertex O Series, Vertex Certificate Center, Vertex Returns, and Workday preferred.

  • Experience with tools like Copilot and Alteryx.

  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws.

  • Proven experience with maintaining indirect tax systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $71,800.00 to $124,000.00
