Position Overview
Under general supervision, the Senior Environmental Engineer provides technical leadership and project management for environmental and hydrogeologic programs. You will serve as both a technical expert and project leader, managing complex environmental projects from concept through execution.
This role involves groundwater and surface water investigations, regulatory compliance, environmental risk assessment, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage environmental water and hydrogeologic projects
Develop scopes of work, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and oversee consultant selection and performance
Manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables
Oversee groundwater and surface water investigations and hydrogeologic assessments
Develop and review flow and transport modeling for permitting and regulatory requirements
Manage environmental data systems, including EQuIS, for data integration and reporting
Evaluate environmental impacts related to facility changes, expansions, or closures
Prepare and maintain regulatory documentation and technical reports
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (CERCLA, NEPA, SARA, Clean Air/Water Acts)
Provide leadership and technical guidance to engineers and technical staff
Present technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Geological, Mining, or related field) and 5+ years of experience
OR
Master's degree in a related field and 3+ years of experience
Experience in environmental management and project management
Strong knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, and reporting
Proven ability to manage large, complex environmental projects
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret environmental data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with EQuIS or similar environmental data systems
Experience with water permitting and compliance in Arizona, Colorado, or New Mexico
Certifications such as HAZWOPER, CHMM, or similar
Experience in mining, industrial, or heavy industry environments
Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
