American Express Senior Associate, Digital Portfolio Management in Phoenix, Arizona

Job Description

The Enterprise Ways of Working team (EWoW) is responsible for leading multi-year strategic programs that cut across multiple product teams as well as accelerating strategic alignment and planning across Enterprise Centers of Excellence (COEs) and Technology, to elevate transparency and drive business and customer outcomes.

As a Senior Associate, Digital Portfolio Management, you will be responsible for overseeing enterprise technology investment prioritization and planning for digital products with a focus on delivering capabilities to market for a breadth of domains across Amex’s digital channels. You will work with stakeholders to identify and prioritize strategic opportunities, refine initiative scope, assess feasibility, and forecast strategic initiatives through discovery, build, and launch across various customer journeys and roadmaps.

You will assist Line of Business (LOB) decision makers to define strategic outcomes and partner effectively across product, platform, and engineering teams to apply lean systems thinking to portfolio planning, investment funding, and agile operations to manage the enterprise roadmap.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a skillful communicator who enjoys a fast-paced environment, puts the customer experience first (internal and external customer), is comfortable operating across various stakeholders and business units, extremely detail oriented, and has a drive to optimize ways of working in an ever-changing environment – all while maintaining a positive attitude and sense of humor in the face of challenges.

This role reports to the Director, Enterprise Portfolio Management for US Consumer.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee portfolio management activities for US Consumer, Enterprise Digital and/or Global Servicing Group (GSG) Journeys

  • Consult with business partners to understand their strategic objectives, shape into customer deliverables, determine product support, and manage through implementation

  • Collaborate across Portfolio, LOBs, Product, and Tech to drive enterprise prioritization for COE technology investments and overall iterative portfolio health

  • Assist with executive-level communications regarding ongoing priorities, status, and key messages and decisions requiring alignment

  • Accelerate delivery across the portfolio, de-risking impediments as needed, solving for scope, sequencing, and capacity constraints on an iterative basis

  • Implement processes and ceremonies to communicate frequently and effectively on portfolio status, keeping product and platform stakeholders informed, and escalating risks where appropriate

  • Demonstrate a willingness to continually learn and implement design, product, and technologies solutions within a dynamic and highly matrixed environment

  • Assist with optimizing cross portfolio operations, team ways of working, and overall process improvement

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working across multiple lines of business

  • Experience working in project, portfolio, product or program management, or operational experience

  • Experience with enterprise collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Airtable)

  • Demonstrated ability to bring organization to multi-layered and complex processes

  • Experience working with Agile product development methodologies

  • Excellent collaboration and relationship management skills, with experience influencing and coordinating across internal or external partners to deliver business goals

  • A positive, can-do attitude and a sense of humor in the face of challenges
