This position is based at our corporate office in Phoenix, AZ, and follows a hybrid work schedule. Remote work is not available for this role. Candidates must reside within commuting distance, as relocation assistance is not provided. Additionally, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored visa support.
Job Overview:
As a Payroll Lead, you will support the coordination of a centralized payroll team responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing for 5,000+ employees across multiple states. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance, driving process improvements, and serving as a subject matter expert for payroll operations within UKG Pro Workforce Management.
Responsibilities:
Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with internal controls and federal/state regulations
Serve as a technical resource for payroll coordinators and employees, resolving complex payroll issues and discrepancies
Provide support for UKG Payroll and Dimensions systems, including troubleshooting and user guidance
Assist with wage garnishments, retroactive pay, and payroll adjustments
Perform weekly audits of payroll, HR, and tax data to ensure accuracy
Monitor and manage payroll support inbox and voicemail, ensuring timely responses
Create and analyze reports using UKG Business Intelligence tools
Develop and maintain payroll procedures, documentation, and training materials
Train new team members and act as an escalation point for payroll-related matters
Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Support ad hoc payroll projects, audits, and data requests
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
Minimum of 3 years of payroll and/or time & labor experience
Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll laws, tax regulations, and timekeeping practices
Experience with UKG Pro Workforce Management preferred
Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, formulas, reporting)
High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
Strong time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated leadership ability and team-oriented mindset
