Middle School Spanish Teacher
2026-2027 School Year
Summit School Phoenix (Ahwatukee), Arizona
Summit School is seeking an engaging, collaborative, and passionate Middle School Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This educator will play an important role in helping students in grades 68 develop language proficiency, cultural awareness, and confidence in global communication.

Position Overview
The Middle School Spanish Teacher will provide engaging and meaningful Spanish instruction for students in grades 68 while contributing to the overall middle school program and culture.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching Spanish language courses that develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
- Designing interactive lessons that promote cultural awareness and global perspectives
- Creating an engaging classroom environment where students feel confident learning and practicing a second language
- Assessing student progress and providing meaningful feedback
- Communicating regularly with families regarding student progress and learning
- Collaborating with middle school faculty to support interdisciplinary learning and student success
- Contributing to Summits Academic Enrichment program
- Supporting school events, student activities, and community initiatives
Summit School Middle School Model
Summit Schools middle school program is intentionally designed to support deeper learning, strong collaboration among faculty, and meaningful engagement for students.
Key elements of the model include:
- 80-minute instructional blocks that allow for deeper learning, project-based instruction, and active engagement
- Approximately two hours of daily preparation time to support lesson planning, grading, collaboration, and student support
- Built-in Professional Learning Community (PLC) time for teachers to collaborate, analyze student progress, and design curriculum together
- Interdisciplinary collaboration among middle school teachers to support a cohesive learning experience for students
- A team-oriented structure where faculty work together to support students academically, socially, and emotionally
Roles and Responsibilities
The Middle School Spanish Teacher will:
- Plan and deliver engaging Spanish language instruction for grades 68
- Create lessons that incorporate authentic cultural experiences and real-world applications
- Develop students confidence in speaking and communicating in Spanish
- Use a variety of instructional strategies including conversation, storytelling, collaboration, and project-based learning
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction based on individual learning needs
- Maintain an organized and positive classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and initiatives
- Support Summit School events, traditions, and community activities
- Promote Summits positive culture and climate through the PEAK to Achieve framework
Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate the following:
- Bachelors degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field (Masters degree preferred)
- Experience teach ng Spanish at the middle school level preferred
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
- Passion for language instruction and cultural education
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based environment
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to professional growth and innovation in teaching
