Actalent Mechanical Designer in Phoenix, Arizona

Mechanical Designer - Semiconductor Megaproject - Phoenix, AZ

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to produce comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models that align with project requirements and client expectations. The successful candidate will lead the creation, refinement, and finalization of designs encompassing industrial and domestic piping, plumbing, HVAC ducting, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, motor control, process chemicals, fire protection, and potentially other mechanical building systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to continue developing their career through one of the most historic construction projects to be built in the United States. This person will sit onsite on the North side of Phoenix, AZ, while gaining competitive industry experience. There are multiple years of work planned out for just this particular project, with additional workload behind it.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maintain precise environmental conditions, including specific materials and specifications.

  • Apply established design techniques, adapting and modifying design concepts while ensuring compliance with company and team CAD standards for quality control.

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to perform load calculations, airflow balancing, and equipment sizing to maintain precise temperature, humidity, and air quality control environments.

  • Work closely with design teams, Engineers, Project Managers, and stakeholders to address specific objectives and propose viable solutions to unique challenges.

  • Facilitate seamless coordination among various design disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Process/Chemical, Architectural, etc.) to fulfill design package requirements.

  • Conduct field verifications and site assessments to identify, verify, resolve, and integrate solutions into design packages, troubleshooting design issues during construction as necessary.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum education of completed GED

  • 2+ years of mechanical design experience with proficiency in AutoCAD

  • 1+ years of experience working on Industrial Projects - Data Centers, Semiconductor, Tool Install, Healthcare, Oil & Gas

  • Experience designing Mechanical Building Systems - HVAC Systems, Chillers, Boilers, Pump Hydraulics, Exhaust, Process Chemicals, Wastewater Discharge

  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and clear client interaction during design reviews and RFIs

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Preferred but Not Required - 5+ years of Mechanical Design experience

  • Preferred but Not Required - Experience with semiconductor or tool install projects

  • Preferred but Not Required - Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, PIPE-FLO, or other similar tools

  • Preferred but Not Required - Associates Degree or higher in Engineering or Architecture

Work Environment:

This role requires working on-site 5 days a week at a semiconductor facility, with a flexible start time between 6 AM and 7 AM. The position involves working 40 to 50 hours per week with eligibility for overtime. The team consists of about 50 employees, and the role reports to the Section Manager. This is a massive megaproject location, with multiple other companies and contractors onsite. This site also has ongoing construction for multiple facilities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $48.00/hr.
