Honeywell Lead IT Engineer- Testing and Quality COE in Phoenix, Arizona
Honeywell Aerospace & Defense is seeking a Lead IT Engineer – Testing & Quality COE to drive enterprise-wide testing strategy, automation enablement, and quality governance across mission-critical IT systems.
This role will serve as a technical leader within the Testing & Quality Center of Excellence (COE), ensuring scalable, compliant, and high-quality delivery across ERP platforms (SAP), digital applications, manufacturing systems (OT), and cloud environments.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in test strategy, automation frameworks, regulated environments, and large-scale ERP transformation programs, particularly within Aerospace & Defense or other highly controlled industries.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Testing Strategy & Governance
Define and execute enterprise testing frameworks across:
SAP S/4HANA / ECC
Digital and customer platforms
Manufacturing / OT systems
Cloud-based applications
Establish standardized test methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
Develop quality metrics and KPIs aligned to enterprise delivery standards.
Ensure traceability between business requirements, technical design, and test cases.
Test Automation & Tooling
Design and implement enterprise test automation frameworks.
Lead automation initiatives across:
SAP (e.g., Tricentis, Worksoft, or similar)
API testing platforms
UI testing frameworks
Drive CI/CD pipeline integration with automated testing.
Reduce manual regression effort through scalable automation.
ERP & Transformation Program Support
Lead testing workstreams for large-scale ERP transformations (e.g., SAP S/4HANA).
Oversee:
SIT (System Integration Testing)
UAT (User Acceptance Testing)
Performance and stress testing
Cutover validation
Ensure defect management and resolution governance.
Regulatory & Compliance Alignment
Ensure testing processes meet:
ITAR / EAR requirements
NIST and CMMC frameworks
SOX IT General Controls
Maintain audit-ready documentation and evidence repositories.
Validate segregation of duties (SoD) and security controls within test cycles.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as technical lead within the Testing & Quality COE.
Mentor QA engineers and automation specialists.
Partner with Development, Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Business teams.
Provide executive-level reporting on quality metrics and release readiness.
YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
8 or more years of IT experience with 5 or more years in testing/quality engineering.
Strong experience in:
Enterprise ERP testing (SAP preferred)
Test automation tools and frameworks
Defect lifecycle management
Experience supporting large-scale transformation programs.
Familiarity with regulated environments (Aerospace, Defense, Manufacturing).
Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies.
WE VALUE
Experience with SAP S/4HANA transformation programs.
Hands-on expertise in:
Tricentis Tosca, Worksoft, Selenium, or similar
API testing (Postman, RestAssured)
Performance testing tools
Knowledge of secure SDLC practices.
Experience in classified or export-controlled environments.
Relevant certifications (ISTQB, SAP testing certification, etc.).
Enterprise quality mindset
Strong analytical and root cause skills
Governance and compliance discipline
Executive communication capability
Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
