CTG Junior IT Operations Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona

CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Junior IT Operations Engineer.

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Phoenix, AZ

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience and/or certifications)

Description

We are seeking a proactive Junior IT Operations Engineer to support the reliability, performance, and security of IT systems at our solar manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for someone with a foundation in systems administration, networking, and automation who is eager to grow their skills while ensuring stability in a production-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain on-premises and cloud-based servers, networks, and infrastructure.

  • Implement system upgrades, patches, backups, and recovery processes.

  • Automate routine operational tasks with scripting and configuration tools.

  • Collaborate with MES and SecOps teams to maintain security and compliance.

  • Assist with incident response, root cause analysis, and system remediation.

  • Document systems, processes, and standard operating procedures.

  • Support deployment and validation of new technologies and tools.

  • Participate in on-call rotation as needed.

Experience & Skills

  • 1–3 years in IT operations, systems administration, or DevOps-related roles.

  • Linux and Windows server experience.

  • VMware virtualization support.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Scripting skills: Bash, PowerShell, Python.

  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, SolarWinds).

  • Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls.

  • Introductory CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: AWS SysOps, Azure Administrator, VMware VCP, CompTIA Server+.

  • ITIL knowledge and service management familiarity.

  • Aruba networking and FortiGate firewall experience.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
