Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team and bolster our commitment to world-class safety standards. This critical role demands a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a strong exprience in electrical engineering, specializing in electrical safety, power systems, and high voltage applications. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust electrical safety programs for our state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing facilities, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This is a historic project taking place in Phoenix, AZ, with work planned onsite for the next 7+ years. As the Design and Construction team works to quickly build this massive scope, this particulate Electrical Safety Engineering role will be responsible for analyzing the electrical systems and ensuring the infrastructure is built to meet safety needs. This is an integral role to maintaining and optimizing the quality of work onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive electrical safety programs, procedures, and policies, specifically focusing on power systems, high voltage equipment, lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash hazards, and electrical installations.

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for all electrical safety matters, providing expert guidance and technical support to engineering, facilities, maintenance, and construction teams.

  • Conduct thorough electrical hazard analyses, risk assessments, and incident investigations related to electrical systems, including high voltage distribution, substations, and equipment within the fab environment.

  • Ensure all electrical safety practices and installations comply with OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEEE, NEC, and other relevant federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards. Perform regular audits and inspections.

  • Develop and deliver specialized electrical safety training programs for various employee groups, including engineers, technicians, and contractors, covering topics such as arc flash safety and safe work practices for high voltage systems.

  • Review electrical system designs, modifications, and new equipment installations to ensure inherent safety, proper grounding, overcurrent protection, and compliance with safety codes before implementation.

  • Lead or participate in the investigation of electrical incidents, near misses, and accidents, determining root causes and recommending effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Drive initiatives to enhance electrical safety performance, reduce risks, and foster a strong safety culture across the organization.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (may consider EIT willing to achieve PE license)

  • 5+ years of progressive professional experience in electrical safety engineering

  • Strong focus on industrial power systems, high voltage distribution, and arc flash analysis

  • Experience with Manufacturing and Industrial projects (will not consider Commercial or Residential)

  • Experience working within the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals standards

  • Experience in electrical engineering, health & safety, and risk assessment

  • Expertise in auditing, safety training, and continuous improvement

Work Environment

This position is based in Phoenix, AZ, with a work schedule of Monday through Friday. Candidates must be willing and able to work on-site. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
