Southwest Turbine Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to support aircraft engine component manufacturing and FAA-certified repair station operations. This role is responsible for inspecting precision turbine engine components to engineering and FAA-approved requirements using conventional inspection tools and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Zeiss Calypso CMM inspections, strong blueprint and GD&T knowledge, and familiarity with FAA 14 CFR Part 145 repair station requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections of aircraft engine components, including turbine, compressor, rotating, and static hardware
- Operate and program CMMs using Zeiss Calypso software
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T
- Verify conformity of parts to engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements
- Ensure inspection activities comply with FAA 14 CFR Part 145
- Accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records
- Identify nonconforming material and support corrective action activities
- Perform in-process and final inspections during manufacturing and repair operations
- Support return-to-service inspections and documentation
- Work closely with manufacturing, repair, engineering, and quality teams
- Support internal and external (FAA) audits
- Maintain proper care and calibration awareness of inspection tools and CMM equipment
- Follow all company safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred
- 15 years of quality inspection experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing\ (Entry-level candidates with relevant education or training will be considered)
- Experience performing CMM inspections using Zeiss Calypso
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Strong understanding of precision measurement tools
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility will be verified
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience inspecting aircraft engine components (blades, vanes, disks, cases, shafts, seals, etc.)
- Knowledge of FAA regulations, including 14 CFR Part 145
- Familiarity with engine overhaul, repair, and return-to-service processes
- Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 21 production approval requirements
- Experience with First Article Inspections (FAI)
- Experience with nonconformance reporting and corrective action
- Experience working with tight tolerances and complex geometries
Drug & Alcohol Testing
This position is subject to FAA and DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required
- Employees are subject to random and other testing as required by FAA and DOT regulations during employment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to perform detailed visual inspections of small and complex components
