Honeywell Advanced Embedded Software Engineer – C/C++, RTOS, Avionics in Phoenix, Arizona

As an Advanced Software Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will develop and maintain software applications that support advanced aerospace systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and debug software solutions that enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of aerospace products.

In this role, the MAU Core Software Developer will maintain and enhance the MAU Core / Epic Apex platform software and develop new platform functionalities. The software suite includes key platform components such as device drivers, configuration monitoring, fault history management, file systems, boot software, networking, and platform abstraction layers. The team also supports the Avionics System Communication Bus (ASCB) and Input/Output (IO) software for the Epic Apex system.

This role focuses on embedded software development closely integrated with avionics hardware, with many components running on the Deos™ operating system . Development follows DO-178B/DO-178C Design Assurance Level A processes , including requirements development, design documentation, integration, verification and validation (V&V), and certification deliverables, while utilizing software configuration management and quality practices.

You will report to the Software Engineering Manager and work from Phoenix, AZ on a hybrid schedule , collaborating with a team of engineers to deliver reliable, high-quality aerospace software solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze software requirements

• Design, develop, and test software applications using industry best practices

• Debug and resolve software defects and issues

• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards

• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure software meets customer needs and requirements

• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends in software engineering

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

  • At least 5 years of experience in software development using programming languages such as C++ in developing and integrating real time embedded software.

  • Strong understanding of software development principles and methodologies.

  • Experience with software testing and debugging techniques.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.

  • Experience with aerospace software development.

  • Experience with Deos is a major plus.

  • Knowledge of safety-critical software development standards and practices.

  • Experience with DO-178B/C Level A software development processes.

  • Experience using and interfacing with the Deos TM Operating System

  • Epic/Apex system knowledge or avionics system knowledge.

  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
