Jacobs Telecommunications Project Lead in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

As a Telecommunications Project Lead, you’ll be an integral part of the full project lifecycle—from early concept development through design, documentation, and delivery. You will lead design activities for structured cabling, wireless, audio‑visual, and other low‑voltage systems for a variety of building types. You will manage multiple concurrent projects, guide BIM designers, collaborate with subject‑matter experts, support client needs, and ensure that every deliverable meets Jacobs’ standards of technical excellence. This role provides the opportunity to grow, be mentored by senior team leaders, and contribute directly to project success.

This job opportunity is based in Philadelphia, PA.

What you'll do

  • Lead design efforts for telecommunications and low‑voltage building systems, including structured cabling, wireless, and audio‑visual technologies.

  • Direct and support BIM designers in the preparation of engineering drawings.

  • Develop, modify, and review Division 27 specifications.

  • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and verify design requirements.

  • Review technical documents for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards.

  • Coordinate closely with internal disciplines, project managers, and external stakeholders.

  • Address and resolve project‑related technical challenges.

  • Manage client relationships and maintain strong communication throughout project duration.

  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation activities.

  • Support responses to RFPs and proposal development efforts.

  • Technical or associate degree from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems.

  • Strong knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards.

  • Thorough understanding of NFPA 70 and its application to telecommunications systems.

  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, and clients.

  • Strong project management skills, including schedule and budget development.

  • Experience identifying and mitigating project risks.

  • Familiarity with developing responses to RFPs.

  • Ability to obtain the RCDD credential within one (1) year of hire if not already certified.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Experience working with additional low‑voltage systems, including:

  • Security

  • Audio/Visual

  • Wireless

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
