Summary:

  • The Supervisor of Respiratory Care is responsible for daily supervision of respiratory care personnel, coordination of daily operations and professional communication with the health care team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum. Acts in absentia of the Manager/Director as needed. The Supervisor is accountable for expected knowledge, skills, and competencies for neonate to geriatric patients. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring annual competencies/appraisals, required certifications, ongoing continuing education and support for respiratory care practitioners under their direct report. The supervisor must meet appropriate behaviors/skills and be able to function in a staff role as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees day to day operations of both inpatient and outpatient Respiratory Therapy areas including Adult/Neonatal inpatient respiratory therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, and pulmonary function areas/departments. Provides feedback and coaches staff and develops individualized performance improvement plans.Designs/Participates in quality improvement projects within the respiratory departmental areas in order to stream line processes and improve patient care reviews and updates policies and procedures in coordination with the Director of Respiratory & Neurodiagnostic Services and/or Medical Director.Responsible for staff scheduling in the adult/neonatal, pulmonary function and pulmonary rehabilitative departments, cross training schedules and call out procedure scheduling.Oversees the operational functioning of the equipment for proper function, inventory, operation, and cleanliness including corrections of malfunctions by working with multiple teams including Clinical engineering, Information Systems and Vendors.Manages the data archive for Penn Medicine hospitals assigns permissions and roles to users of third-party applications and distribution lists.Responsible for optimizing resources for equipment and services.Monitors billing work queues and responsible for billing accuracy regarding respiratory modalities, reports revenue issues and unusual volume trends to the Director of Respiratory and Neurodiagnostic Services collaborates with professional billing.Organizes, prepares material and attends teaching conferences and technical meetings. Maintains CEUs/Credentials.Responsible for adhering to State & Federal regulations and successful compliance of these regulatory agencies. Ensures that areas are survey ready at all times.

Credentials:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Associate's Degree Business, Allied Health or related field and 3+ years Experience as a current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.

  • Bachelor's Degree Any field of study as related to experience (preference in business related courses) And 3+ years Relevant experience preferred.
