Summary:

  • The Penn Medicine Center for Connected Care (CfCC) Sr. Clinical Manager, APP, provides senior‑level leadership with 24‑hour accountability for clinical and operational performance. The Sr. Clinical Manager, APP, plays a key leadership role in leading the strategic advancement of Penn Medicine’s mission by developing, coaching, and holding accountable a diverse team of Advanced Practice Providers. The APP teams at the CfCC are shaping the future in care delivery by driving the thoughtful advancement of Penn Medicine’s mission to Repair, Refocus, and Reimagine healthcare. The APP teams at the CfCC are charged with transforming operational performance, reducing unwarranted variation, and fostering innovations that sustain the long-term viability of the health system.

  • The Sr. Clinical Manager, APP, is a hybrid role requiring visible, hands‑on, onsite, leadership presence with active engagement across hospital and practice sites within the health system. The CfCC serves as the centralized command center for Penn Medicine’s connected health operations. The Sr. Clinical Manager, APP, provides clinical oversight and operational direction across all APP supported services at the CfCC. The Sr. Clinical Manager, APP, ensures staffing effectiveness, efficiencies, and accountabilities across inpatient and ambulatory settings.

  • Principal programs at the CfCC include Telemedicine Critical Care, Virtual & Urgent Care, and Remote Patient Monitoring. Located on the Penn Medicine Rittenhouse campus in Philadelphia, the Sr. Clinical Manager, APP, will support region‑wide clinical operations in PA, NJ, DE, MD, enabled through strong leadership, coordinated team performance, and state-of-the-art technologies.

  • The Senior Clinical Manager is responsible for the consistent and comprehensive patient care delivery in the ambulatory practice setting. The Senior Clinical Manager is responsible for maintaining the highest level of patient/customer satisfaction, education, research initiatives and patient confidentiality. The Senior Clinical Manager demonstrates that employee and partner satisfaction is a precursor to patient satisfaction. The Senior Clinical Manager's role is to balance and achieve all three: Patient, Employee and Partner Satisfaction. The Senior Clinical Manager is responsible for continually assessing the clinical care team to ensure quality, compliance with governmental agencies and patient access.

  • Complexity Factors (may involve a few of the following factors of practice complexity): multiple practice locations, high practice/facility square footage, service line oversight, coordination of inpatient services, coordination of care across several departments/entities, academic involvement (research initiatives, resident program), special clinical programs, multiple clinical specialties, complex regulatory requirements, management of external partnerships/collaborations.

  • Oversees clinical operations in the practice/division/department: Collaborates on budgeting and billing practices (where applicable). Establishes/updates work processes and work practices Manages schedules, pay practices, time card review, and approval Maintains clinical practice and/or performs clinical duties to maintain workflows and adequate staffing levels Manages clinical projects, Contributes to strategic and operational planning. Maintains regulatory compliance (TJC, CMS, DOH, OSHA). Maintain a focus on Quality and Safety Priorities including but not limited to the application of a quality improvement framework (FOCUS PDSA), and highly reliable Organization principles. Supports excellence in patient care and service recovery initiativesmanages appropriate safety event review and follow-up.

  • Change Management: Provides support to entity and practice leadership to proactively develop change management strategies for major organizational and practice activities and events Implements change management strategy within the practice in alignment with entity/Penn Medicine objectives Communication plans are effectively implemented Ensure appropriate follow-up of major clinical/practice issues Manage routine and crisis communications through the practice/community as they arise Understands system-wide policy changes and impact on employees. Uses proactive communication and feedback tools to manage implementation.

Credentials:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)

  • Certified Nurse Practitioner PA or Physician Assistant (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Master of Arts or Science (Required)

  • Education Specialization: Nursing Equivalent Experience: •And 7+ years 7 years total clinical experience which includes Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant and prior leadership experience.
