Please note that this position may be hired at either the Respiratory Therapist I (new to practice) or Respiratory Therapist II level depending on applicant experience.

New to practice therapists are welcome to apply.

A Respiratory Therapist is a member of the healthcare team who provides expertise in managing patients of all ages who have respiratory disease or acute conditions impacting their ability to breathe. The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to patients in the general, critical care and emergency room environments. Our Respiratory Therapists are part of HUP's clinical advancement program.

Qualifications (Respiratory Therapist I)*:

  • Associate's degree - Graduate of Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited Respiratory Care program (required)

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)

  • State of Pennsylvania Respiratory Care License (required)

  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) (required within 1 year of date of hire)

  • State of PA license and all NBRC credentials are to be active and maintained per the rules and regulations of the State of PA and the NBRC continuing competency requirements.

  • BLS Healthcare Provider Certification (required)

  • ACLS (preferred)

  • Associate's degree - Graduate of Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited Respiratory Care program (required)

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)

  • 1+ years minimum clinical experience (required)

  • State of Pennsylvania Respiratory Care License (required)

  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) (required)

  • State of PA license and all NBRC credentials are to be active and maintained per the rules and regulations of the State of PA and the NBRC continuing competency requirements.

  • BLS Healthcare Provider Certification (required)

  • ACLS (preferred)
