Center for Families and Relationships Part Time Outreach Specialist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Position overview 

 

Center for Families and Relationships is seeking a Part-Time Outreach Specialist to work in our Together Through Trauma Program which provides systemic trauma services to Philadelphia residents impacted by community violence. Certified Peer Specialists encouraged to apply! 

 

This position will help increase client/family engagement in workshops and therapeutic services. This position will have a special focus on community outreach and engagement providing an additional layer of support to families in need of services. This position reports directly to the Program Director. 

 

Key responsibilities 

 

  • Work with Program Director to establish a schedule of events (outreach/tabling at community events, workshops, trainings, partner meetings, etc) each month and commit to that schedule

``` - Identify community partnerships for the purpose of collaboration.

``` - Reach out to community partners and attend community events to help engage participation into the program and build relationships.

``` - Collect contact information for interested community members at events and reach out to them after to engage them in programming.

``` - Assist in identifying barriers keeping community members from engaging in programming. 

```{=html}

``` - Assist with warm handoffs to therapeutic services. 

```{=html}

``` - Ensure community members are regularly being contacted about upcoming workshops and events.

``` - Help with 30,60 and 90 day follow up to those discharged from the program.

``` - Assist workshop facilitators in running the community trauma workshops by making community members feel more comfortable, distributing materials, setting up activities, and laying out food.

``` - Attend weekly team and one-on-one meetings

``` - Help clients get connected to social determinants of health resources as identified in the intake or throughout treatment.

``` - Other duties as assigned. 

Position Qualifications 

Professional Experience/Educational Requirements 

  • A self-identified current or former user of mental health or co-occurring services who can relate to others who are now using those services.

``` - High school diploma or GED 

```{=html}

``` - Demonstrated proficiency in reading and writing. 

Professional Competencies/Skill Set 

  • A strong communicator (verbal and written)

``` - A customer-service orientation, and great interpersonal skills.

``` - Ability to establish trusting relationships with their peers. 

```{=html}

``` - Commitment to recovery, choice and empowerment. 

```{=html}

``` - Works well as part of a collaborative team.

``` - Demonstrated Microsoft Office skills.

``` - A sense of humor. 

Physical Requirements 

 

  • Frequent communications, verbal and written.

``` - Regular interaction with agency staff, management, clients.

``` - Frequent standing, sitting, and moving within the workplace.

``` - Use vision and hearing to identify, observe and assess.

``` - Heavy daily use of personal computer applications and phones to complete essential job functions.

``` - Occasionally lifts and moves material or objects weighing less than 50 lbs. 

 

Additional details 

 

  • Job Type: Part-time 20 hours/week

``` - Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred)

``` - Experience: Outreach, peer specialist or case management: 2 years (Preferred)
