About the Role
Xylem is hiring experienced Heavy Machinery Technician to join our third‑shift production team in Pewaukee, WI. You will assemble, disassemble, repair, and test industrial pump systems used in critical water and fluid‑handling applications. This is true heavy mechanical work —not light assembly. Candidates must be comfortable working with heavy components, overhead cranes, precision tools, and industrial test equipment.
Xylem offers day‑one benefits, 4 weeks of PTO for hourly employees, paid holidays, retirement programs, and strong opportunities for skill development and career growth.
What You Will Do
Tear down, inspect, repair, and reassemble industrial pumps and rotating equipment
Perform hydrostatic and performance testing using specialized tools and test stands
Operate overhead cranes, hoists, rigging, and industrial material‑handling equipment
Interpret mechanical drawings, work instructions, and test specifications
Prep, paint, and package pumps and components for shipment
Support receiving, stocking, and fulfilling parts and pump orders
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow lockout/tagout and safety protocols
Who Thrives in This Role
This role is a strong match if you have experience in:
Heavy mechanical assembly, teardown, or rebuild
Fabrication, welding, machine repair, diesel or industrial engine work
Operating overhead cranes and rigging equipment
Using precision tools (micrometers, dial indicators, torque tools, calipers)
Working in tight assembly cells, elevated positions, or enclosed spaces
Troubleshooting mechanical systems with minimal oversight
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
3+ years in mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, pump repair, or heavy equipment repair
Experience with pumps, gearboxes, motors, or rotating equipment
Overhead crane, hoist, or forklift experience strongly preferred
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding environments
Basic computer skills for work orders and test documentation
Strong communication, teamwork, and safety awareness
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Lift 50+ lbs and handle heavy components daily
Stand, walk, bend, push, and pull throughout the shift
Work in enclosed spaces or small assembly cells
Use hand and power tools, rigging, and material‑handling equipment
Occasional overtime based on business needs
