Project Engineer

Manufacturing | On-site (Peru IN)

Salary: $89,500 DOE

Position Summary

The Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting engineering initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance production performance. This position focuses on developing and implementing technical solutions, optimizing processes, and supporting capital projects within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Working independently or as part of a team, the Project Engineer contributes to design, planning, and execution efforts while ensuring alignment with operational goals, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary engineering designs, specifications, and cost estimates for projects

• Conduct feasibility studies, research, and economic analyses to support project planning

• Define design criteria in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and operational needs

• Perform field work and translate completed projects into accurate as-built documentation

• Review engineering submissions from plant locations for accuracy, quality, and compliance

• Coordinate with equipment vendors to support layout development and installation planning

• Monitor project timelines to ensure installations are completed on schedule

• Review third-party designs and provide recommendations for improvement

• Support pre-project planning activities including scope development and proposal evaluation

• Prepare project documentation such as budgets, schedules, and justifications

• Assist with bid reviews and contract administration activities

• Track project progress and provide regular status updates to leadership

• Monitor project costs and ensure alignment with approved budgets

• Support installation and commissioning activities to ensure adherence to specifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field, or equivalent experience

• 2+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

• Ability to apply engineering principles to both design and operational challenges

• Experience with project management and contract administration processes

• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and engineering best practices

• Proficiency in engineering economics and cost analysis

• Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Willingness to travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in food processing or high-volume manufacturing environments

• Knowledge of installation, construction, and project scheduling practices

• Familiarity with process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives

• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, team-oriented environments

• Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach

Supervisory Responsibilities

• No direct reports

• May provide guidance, training, and technical support to other engineers or plant personnel

Pay Details: $85,000.00 to $89,500.00 per year
