Job Description
As a Forklift Lead Hand , you’ll step into a hands‑on leadership role that blends daily warehouse operations with mentoring and floor‑level coordination. This position is ideal for an experienced forklift operator who wants to grow into long‑term leadership and advance their career as the company continues to expand.
You’ll work alongside the team while helping set the pace, reinforcing safety and quality standards, and supporting smooth operations from receiving through shipping. Your leadership on the floor will directly impact productivity, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
This is a contract‑to‑hire opportunity with a clear intention of permanent employment and future advancement for the right individual.
Responsibilities
Hands‑On Warehouse Operations
Perform daily warehouse functions including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, loading/unloading, put‑away, replenishment, and inventory movement
Operate reach and counterbalance forklifts safely and efficiently
Ensure orders are completed accurately and on time
Verify documentation, labels, and shipment details for accuracy
Assist with cycle counts, inventory checks, and discrepancy resolution
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety‑focused warehouse environment
Leadership & Team Support
Support onboarding and training of new employees on warehouse processes, equipment, quality standards, and safety expectations
Provide day‑to‑day coaching and guidance to help the team perform consistently
Reinforce company standards for attendance, conduct, teamwork, and customer service
Clearly communicate operational priorities, changes, and expectations
Provide accurate updates on shift progress, delays, shortages, or service issues
Essential Skills
Forklift experience required (reach and counterbalance)
Minimum 1 year of experience operating reach/counterbalance forklifts
Experience handling loads over 2,500 lbs
2–5 years of warehouse or distribution experience
Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and shipping/receiving
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while managing competing priorities
Strong communication skills and a team‑first mindset
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in a lead hand, senior warehouse associate, or informal leadership role preferred.
Experience with warehouse management systems, scanners, or RF technology is an asset.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Leadership and team coordination skills.
Good judgment and problem-solving ability.
Dependable.
