Manual Machinist

Ball Transfer Systems (www.balltransfer.com) is a locally owned private company, the nation's leading manufacturer of industrial, heavy duty and light application ball transfer units. We are looking to add to our team with a Manual Machinist who is self-motivated, driven, and an ethical employee looking to join an evolving business focused on developing top talent in support of an even brighter future.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce manufacturing tools and various dies.

· Use sketches, blueprints, specifications and models to plan operations for the fabrication of dies, tools and assemblies, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency

· Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers and micrometers

· Utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and dies and to repair and modify gauges, jigs and dies

· Design templates and jigs to be used as work aids for convenient fabrication of products and parts

· Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on tools, manually operated dies and progressive dies

· Interface with external and internal customers, handle supplier and customer concerns, and work with team members to solve problems during the production process

· File and finish workpieces using the appropriate hand tools to ensure products are smooth and that they fit together properly

· Select the appropriate metals and materials to be used based on properties, ensuring they meet project specifications

Requirements:

Minimum of 1 year of experience.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to read and utilize technical manuals.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

General passion for creative problem-solving

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, be able to stand for 8 hours, and can work independently.

Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively

Valid Driver's License in PA

Pass drug and alcohol tests

Ball Transfer pays competitive wages and benefits. However, pay is based on experience and we are willing to train the right candidates. The company offers UPMC health insurance (contributes 70% towards premium) after 60 days of employment, Dental and Life insurance after 90 days. Employees are eligible for a raise after completing their 90 days.

To be successful, you must be a self-motivated with a drive to make change, while also being at work each day with an open-mind.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour with review after 90 days.
