PETTINGILL FRUIT FARM General Farm/Irrigation Worker (Temporary) in PERRY, Utah
Temporary Need: 03/03/26 - 10/30/26. Twelve (12) full-time, temporary, seasonal General Farm/Irrigation Workers needed. Requirements: Ability to lift 80 lbs. Location: Work will be performed in Willard, Perry, Utah. Wage is $12.48/hr. 48 hours/week, Mon-Sat. From 6:00 a.m.to 3:00 p.m. Duties:
Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of stone fruits, row crop vegetables, melons, squash, and pumpkins for the majority of the workdays in the overall contract period, commensurate with the duties encompassed within the five SOC Codes comprising the field and livestock workers (combined) category.
Worker will apply specific techniques as instructed by the employer in order to plant, feed, treat, cultivate, prune, harvest, and store crops/plants/trees/vines. General Farm Work will include the following responsibilities: maintain, drive, attach, and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, and harvest crops; make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery; may mix and/or spray chemicals (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable); remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds; remove rocks from field; paint/repair/maintain farm structures; maintain/repair fences; perform general cleanup of farm areas; drive, load/unload farm trucks; operate vehicle, motor bike, or all-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties; workers possessing the proper licensure may be asked to transport other farm workers; prepare fields, seed beds, containers, plastic growing beds, etc.; hand plant trees, vines, and/or plants in fields, orchards and/or containers; use tools to dig holes to plant young trees; sow seed and plant cuttings; mix planting soil; walk behind equipment to ensure plant placement (unclog planter if necessary); plant transplants with machine or by hand; observe general condition and inspect crops/plants/trees for signs of disease/insect manifestations/worms/rot and apply appropriate care; remove dead plants and replace with seeds or live plants; use mechanized or hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning tools, shears, knives, saws, ladders, etc.; observe general condition of plants/vines/trees and apply the appropriate care; inspect crop for signs of disease/insect manifestations/worms/rot; recognize crop nutrient/moisture requirements an apply the appropriate care; mix and/or spray chemicals such as herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable) by hand or machine; spread fertilizer; haul/spread soil or products to condition land; fill growing tanks with water; move containerized plants/vines/trees; pick up/handle/climb ladders; lift items such as rolls of plastic, bundles of wire, and rolls of drip tape over head; read/interpret meters used to regulate/control environmental conditions; maintain/repair hydroponic/environmental control systems; build/install/maintain trellises; remove strings/wire from trellises or other structures;
Workers' Compensation coverage or private insurance which is equal to Workers' Compensation laws for comparable employment. The employer guarantees to offer the worker employment for a total number of work days equal to at least 3/4's of the total work period beginning with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or advertised contractual first day of need. Whichever is later to occur, and ending on the expiration date specified. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer shall pay the worker the cost incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subs istence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer (currently $16.28 per day minimum, or $68.00 per day maximum for workers with acceptable receipts) The offered wage equals or exceeds the highest of the prevailing wage that is issu d by DOL for the time period the work is performed. This job is in connection with a future H-2A labor certification application.
